Behold, one of the most famous sofas of all time: the Maralunga sofa by Vigo Magistretti for Cassina. Legend has it that Cesare Cassina punched a sofa prototype shown to him by Milan based architect Vico Magistretti which did not completely fulfil his requirements for comfort. The clumsy punch broke the back of the sofa, which gave Magistretti the idea on how to reconstruct the traditional model. The sofa enjoyed huge market succes and was a first introduction to the concept of adjustable headrests.
