Spectrum has dedicated itself to preserving Dutch design heritage and re issuing famous designs that have proven their worth as classics. The Pressroom chair by Rietveld is a special case. Originally designed for the Pressroom of UNESCO in 1958, it was actually never produced for budget reasons. But the designs survived and Spectrum has taken it on to late introduce the chair. Envisioning journalists sitting around a low table in the swinging chair leafing through press material, Rietveld gave this chair a stern but active character. All details are brought to life in this chair: the oak armrests, the bold stitching, and the poem by Morgenstern underneath the seat. A detail Rietveld cared a lot about. The only improvement spectrum could come up with is an extra 6 cm to the base, to accommodate our longer legs.
To celebrate the belated launch of this design of this chair, a limited edition was issued, and as you might guess, we have one!
